Greg McIntyre

Lead Auditor

As a founding member of the New Zealand Professional Mountain Bikers Association, Greg McIntyre has been at the forefront of developing national standards for mountain bike tourism operators.  These standards provided a platform for the development of the Adventure Safety Guidelines (ASG). As well as being part of the ASG, he has been a member of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) liaising with Skills Active to create a workplace-based MTB Instructor and Guiding qualification and is now a roving assessor for Skills Active, assessing and training aspiring guides and instructors.

In his 18 years of owning and managing Fat Tyre Adventures and latterly, Heli-Bike NZ, he has amassed over 10,000 hours of MTB guiding.  Now that Greg has sold his business, he is able to apply his knowledge and experience of tourism and the audit process to his new role as an auditor.

Aside from auditing, Greg is an instructor for the school Bike Ready programme; assesses and trains aspiring MTB guides and instructors for Skills Active; and operates a mobile bike servicing business (Greg and Gary’s Bicycle Garage).

Outside of the cycling world, he is a ski instructor at Coronet Peak and a Telemark Examiner with the NZ Snow Sports Instructors Alliance and loves to grow organic veges in his garden.
